Diwali is one of the main festivals in North India, especially for its historical significance. Also referred to as the festival of lives, the celebration of Diwali marks the win of good over evil.

Diwali is supposed to be one of those times of the year when we’re all engrossed in the beauty of joyfully living our lives.

With the trend of people moving out and settling in different parts of India, finding the same flavour as you did in the North can be difficult. The good part is that you can now hire a North Indian Pandit in Bangalore and celebrate the Diwali Puja as per your rituals.

Diwali- Celebrate 5 Days with Mirth and Joy

While you may get a leave from your offices for only one day to celebrate Diwali in Bangalore, the festival spans for five days. Undoubtedly, Diwali is one of the main festivals that many people from the North often look forward to.

But what exactly happens during the five days of Diwali, you ask? Here are the festivals celebrated during those five days:

Dhanteras

Diwali begins with Dhanteras puja. If you’re new or unfamiliar with the rituals, you should start with hiring a North Indian pandit for the Dhanteras Puja in Bangalore.

It would help if you were placing bright lights and diyas near your door to celebrate dhanteras. Buying something new during dhanteras, preferably kitchen utensils, is often recommended. Doing so will bring good fortune to you.

Narak Chaturdashi

The celebration of Narak Chaturdashi happens in different ways in different parts of India. However, one common ritual people across India follow is spending time with their loved ones.

Narak Chaturdashi is all about being there with your loved ones. People in North India exchange gifts and decorate their homes. This is the main day when the Diwali decoration of your house begins. People make rangolis around their homes.

Lakshmi Puja

The day of Lakshmi Puja is said to be one of the most important days or the main day of Diwali. During this day, you pray to Goddess Lakshmi.

Every family prays and worships Goddess Lakshmi in their own homes. Grand festivities and delicious feasts, then follow the Puja. People in North India also celebrate with fireworks and displays.

Govardhan Puja

The fourth-day marks honoring Lord Krishna. The Govardhan puja also marks the beginning of the Gujarati New Year.

In Gujarat, the family members usually build a mountain of all the food offerings. The mountain of food prepared is supposed to replicate Mount Govardhan.

Bhaiya Dooj

All Diwali festivities come to a halt with Bhaiya dooj. While all the days are given to worshipping God, the last day is dedicated to family, celebrating the strongest sibling bonds.

The sisters put a tika on the forehead of the brothers and provided them with sweets. Traditionally, the brothers are supposed to give gifts and sweets in exchange for the honour provided by the sisters.

According to the Hindu calendar, there is no exact date for Lakshmi Puja during Diwali. In some years, the Lakshmi Puja will be held in November; other years, it can be held in October. However, the main festival of Diwali, Lakshmi Puja, is celebrated on the night of the new moon after the month of Kartika.

On Diwali, not only is Goddess Lakshmi worshipped, but also Lord Ganesha. The Puja is held in a sacred place that invokes purity. It should be a space where you offer meditative prayers and make various offerings such as sweets, religious songs and more.

How North Indians Celebrate Diwali?

In North India, the celebrations of Diwali start as soon as Dussehra. During Dussehra, a dramatic rendition of the story of Ramayana is enacted of how Lord Rama (good) won over Ravana (evil).

Many people engage in gambling during Diwali night, especially around Himachal and Delhi, since it is considered suspicious. However, Diwali is not celebrated widely in Punjab, but they do participate in festivities by lighting diyas around their house.

In UP and Delhi, the houses are decorated with lights and the front doors are made beautiful with Rangolis. Many people around North India also sprinkle a silver coin in milk around the house.

The entire house is cleaned before the Diwali festivities begin, and then Puja is offered. It is believed that a clean house attracts auspicious energies.

Conclusion

The festivities of Diwali are pretty simple. When expert Pandits in Bangalore offer Diwali Puja at your home, it helps to attract positive energies and bring financial stability. Conducting Diwali Puja in your home can be extremely beneficial, especially in cutting down all negative energies.

Performing Diwali rituals diligently can help eliminate the darkness of our lives. It brings positive energies around. You must hire a Pandit who knows all the traditions and rituals properly. Contact experts at SmartPuja and book your appointments for the Puja today!
