Continuous Tense (जिसे Progressive Tense भी कहते हैं) उन कार्यों को दर्शाने के लिए उपयोग होता है जो चल रहे होते हैं, हो रहे थे, या हो रहे होंगे। इस tense में क्रिया (verb) के साथ -ing जोड़कर कार्य की जारी स्थिति को दिखाया जाता है
हिंदी में Continuous Tense वाले वाक्य रहा है, रही है, रहे हैं, रहा था, रही थी, रहे थे, रहा होगा, रही होगी, रहे होंगे जैसे शब्दों से समाप्त होते हैं
उदाहरण:
- मैं पढ़ रहा हूँ
- वह सो रही थी
- वे खेल रहे होंगे
Continuous Tense के तीन प्रकार होते हैं
Present Continuous Tense (वर्तमान काल में जारी कार्य)
Structure:
Subject + is/am/are + V¹ + ing + object
Examples:
- I am reading a book
- She is cooking food
- They are playing football

- मैं खाना खा रहा हूँ → I am eating food
- वह नाच रही है → She is dancing
- वे पढ़ रहे हैं → They are studying
Past Continuous Tense (भूतकाल में जारी कार्य)
Structure:
Subject + was/were + V¹ + ing + object
Examples:
- I was writing a letter
- He was driving a car
- We were watching a movie

- वह पढ़ रही थी → She was studying
Future Continuous Tense (भविष्य में जारी कार्य)
Structure:
Subject + will be + V¹ + ing + object
Examples:
- I will be working tomorrow
- She will be singing
- They will be attending the meeting

- मैं पढ़ रहा होऊँगा → I will be studying
- वह नाच रही होगी → She will be dancing
