With Rockstar slowly phasing out GTA V on older platforms, they have had to remove some key features from the Xbox One version of the game. The most recent being the Rockstar Editor, a way to make videos ‘in-game’. Many Xbox One players were concerned that the associated achievements would become unobtainable. Thankfully, Rockstar have changed the requirements ensuring that, for now, people can obtain 100% completion on Grand Theft Auto 5.
The Change to the Grand Theft Auto V Achievements
The removal of the Rockstar Editor meant that created videos could no longer be uploaded to the Rockstar servers. There were two Xbox One achievements tied to this:
- Vinewood Visionary
- Majestic
The first required uploading 5 videos made in Rockstar Editor, and the second required uploading 10 videos.
The requirements for each of these achievements have now been changed. In order to unlock Vinewood Visionary, you’ll need to enter director mode 5 times. If you want to unlock Majestic, then you’ll need to enter director mode 10 times. The previous unlock requirements remain listed on the achievement, although you can no longer unlock the achievements in this way.
What This Means for The Future of the Game
At the moment, Rockstar have pledged to provide support for GTA V on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. However, it is unlikely that they will release any more major updates for the platforms, since most of the time and money is being spent on making the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 versions of the game as great as they can be, plus a small amount of extra cash being spent on developing the online mode for GTA 6.
As you may know – Rockstar have switched off the servers on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This meant that all the online achievements/trophies for those two platforms will forever be unobtainable. There is no chance that Rockstar will ever change the requirements for those, as the platforms do not allow it.
Eventually, Rockstar will turn off the servers on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. In fact, this is likely to happen within the next years. When this does happen, you can expect all the achievements to be discontinued. Well, the online ones. There’s no way that Rockstar will change the unlock requirements for those online achievements. It’ll be a lot of effort, and it will make the effort people put in to unlock the achievements worthless. So, if you want to ensure you get 100% of the achievements in Grand Theft Auto V, make sure you get them now.
